Question 1

What areas does Boomerang serve?

Accepted Answer

We serve all of Western Massachusetts and the Pioneer Valley — including Springfield, Northampton, Amherst, Holyoke, Chicopee, West Springfield, Agawam, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Belchertown, South Hadley, Westfield, Easthampton, Ludlow, Palmer, Hadley, Southwick, and surrounding communities. We also serve parts of Connecticut including Enfield, Windsor Locks, and Suffield. For long distance moves we travel up to 500 miles from our Ludlow MA base.

Question 2

What are your moving rates? How do I receive an estimate?

Accepted Answer

Our rates vary based on the size of your move, the number of movers needed, and the distance. The best way to get an accurate price is a free estimate — either a virtual walkthrough over video or an in-person visit at your location. Most estimates take less than 30 minutes and we'll give you a clear, transparent price before moving day with no hidden fees or surprises. Call (413) 535-3200 or schedule online at boomerangmovers.com.

Question 3

Is Boomerang a licensed mover within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Boomerang Movers holds a Massachusetts Moving License (MDPU No. 31673), active US DOT authority (No. 2204901), and MC authority (No. 765077). You can verify our credentials at the FMCSA website using our DOT number. We are fully authorized for both local moves within Massachusetts and interstate long distance moves.

Question 4

Is Boomerang a fully insured mover?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Boomerang Movers carries general liability insurance, workers' compensation, motor cargo insurance, and warehouse legal insurance. We are fully covered on every job. Ask us for proof of insurance at any time — we're happy to provide it.

Question 5

Can I insure my household items that Boomerang moves or stores?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer two valuation options. Option A — Released Value Protection: Free declared value coverage at $0.60 per pound per article. All items are depreciated. Option B — Additional valuation options with varying deductibles and fees per $1,000 of valuation. We recommend discussing valuation options when you book. For additional coverage contact your homeowner's or renter's insurance provider.

Question 6

How will you protect my furniture during the move?

Accepted Answer

Every piece of furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and secured with shrink wrap before it's loaded onto the truck. Furniture is then strapped to the walls of the moving truck to prevent shifting during transport. We also use floor protection and door frame guards at your home to prevent damage during the move.

Question 7

Do you offer storage services?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Boomerang operates a 30,000 square foot secure climate-controlled warehouse in Ludlow, MA. We offer both short-term and long-term storage — ideal for between-home transitions, commercial staging, and estate situations. Learn more at boomerangmovers.com/secure-storage/overview/ or call (413) 535-3200.

Question 8

Do you offer packing and unpacking services?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer full packing service and partial packing service for specific rooms or fragile items only. We supply all materials including boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, tape, and wardrobe boxes. Unpacking at your destination is available too.

Question 9

When is my payment due?

Accepted Answer

A small deposit is required to reserve your moving date. The final balance is due at the completion of your move.

Question 10

Should I tip the movers?

Accepted Answer

Tipping is completely at your discretion — it is never required. Our crews work extremely hard in all weather conditions and gratuities are always appreciated. Most customers tip at the end of the job when everything is complete. Cash and credit card tips are both accepted.

Question 11

Do you operate on Sundays?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we do move on Sundays. Sunday moves are available at premium rates. Call us at (413) 535-3200 to check availability and get a Sunday moving estimate.

Question 12

Do you move pianos?

Accepted Answer

Question 13

Do you move hot tubs?

Accepted Answer

Call (413) 535-3200 to discuss your hot tub move.

Question 14

Do you move safes and gun safes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Heavy safes and gun safes require specialized equipment and an experienced crew. Boomerang Movers handles safe moves throughout Western MA — from small gun safes to large floor safes weighing several hundred pounds. Call (413) 535-3200 for a specialty safe moving estimate.

Question 16

How far in advance should I book my move?

Accepted Answer

For local moves, 1–2 weeks in advance is ideal but we can often accommodate same-day moves. For long distance moves, 2–4 weeks is recommended. During peak season — May through September — availability fills up faster, especially on weekends. Call us at (413) 535-3200 and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Question 17

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Boomerang Movers disassembles and reassembles furniture as part of our moving service. Bed frames, desks, shelving units, and other large furniture pieces are broken down before the move and put back together at your new location. Just let us know what needs to be taken apart when you book.

Question 18

Do I need to empty my dresser drawers before the movers arrive?

Accepted Answer

For local moves, dresser drawers can often stay packed with clothing and soft items — our crew will wrap the dresser and move it carefully. For long distance moves or very heavy dressers, we recommend emptying the drawers to reduce weight and prevent damage during transit.

Question 19

Are you an MHEC-approved moving company?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Boomerang Movers is an approved supplier through the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC). Colleges, universities, municipalities, K-12 schools, libraries, and other public institutions can hire Boomerang directly through an existing MHEC contract — no separate bidding process required. Contact us at (413) 535-3200 to discuss your institution's moving needs.

Question 21

What items can you not move?

Accepted Answer

There are certain items we are unable to transport for safety and legal reasons. These include hazardous materials such as propane tanks, paint, and chemicals, perishable food items, plants, and certain high-value items like cash and jewelry. We recommend transporting these items yourself. Call (413) 535-3200 if you're unsure about a specific item.

Question 22

How do I pack my personal items such as dishware, clothing, books, and records?

Accepted Answer

For dishes: use packing paper or bubble wrap between each dish with at least 1 inch of cushion on every side. For clothing: use a wardrobe box or pack folded clothing in standard boxes. For media and files: pack boxes tightly with little air space. For appliances: unplug, clean, and defrost if necessary before moving day. For motorized equipment: drain gas and oil completely. If you'd rather not pack yourself, ask us about our full and partial packing services — we supply all materials.
